Investment in New Zealand from Overseas

The Overseas Investment Act 1973 and Overseas Investment Regulations 1995 require consent to be obtained for certain investments by overseas persons in New Zealand. These are (in general):

Overseas persons include companies, trusts or joint ventures incorporated outside New Zealand, a subsidiary of such or in which 25% of the interest or control is vested in overseas persons.
